8-year old solves PA’s Budget Crisis

My daughter Amber (grade 3) has the occasional "privilege" of sitting in the pastor's office while dad is attending a meeting in the next room. During a recent meeting, she situated herself behind the desk and declared herself "the mayor of Pennsylvania". She immediately appointed two barbie dolls as her senior staff and signed one piece of legislation into law. The content of that law is as follows:

(Law - The new law is that kids have school from 8:30am to 9:00am. Also, 30 minutes are a break and a break is required every day or you're fired.)
Eat your heart out, Tom Corbett. The new mayor of Pennslyvania just solved the budget crisis in less than an hour after taking office. Didn't raise a single tax, either. I guess it is possible!

Amazed by a 7-year old

We have several journals laying around our house. My wife, Monica, has been very intentional in encouraging our 7-year old daughter Amber to write in them. This not only affirms what she is doing in her first grade classroom, but also (we hope) expands her learning at home.

I found one of the journals left out this morning and read the following. I'm still overwhelmed by it:

He Was Cold But Put Warmth In Me
by Amber

I saw this man by the sidewalk,
nor did I know it was my God.
He was cold from the storm last night
but he put warmth in me.
The warmth of God.
